Paul Parsons
Lab Director

Paul Parsons is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Graphics Technology at Purdue University. He holds a PhD in computer science, with a focus on human-computer interaction and information visualization, from the University of Western Ontario. He also holds a BS in computing and cognitive science from Queen’s University.

Ali is a PhD student in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, working with Dr. Paul Parsons. His research interests include information visualization, cognition, user experience, and education.

PhD Student

Zixu is a PhD student studying information visualization, human factors, and cognitive engineering. He has a MS degree in industrial engineering from Purdue and a BS in aeronautical engineering from Beihang University. He is currently working on the Resilient Extraterrestrial Habitats Project.

PhD Student

Prakash is a PhD student in the Polytechnic Institute at Purdue, working with Dr. Paul Parsons. He has completed his undergrad in Design from IIT Guwahati and his MS from Purdue in User Experience Design. His research interests lie in Information Visualization and User Experience Design.

Srishti Shekhar Agrawal
MS Student

Srishti is a second year Master’s student at Purdue University specializing in UX Design, working under Dr. Paul Parsons. She works as a Graduate Assistant (UX Designer) at the Military Family Research Institute. Her interests include HCI, qualitative research, UX Design, Interaction Design and Product Management. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering.

Soumya Krishnaraj
MS Student

Soumya is a second-year Master’s student in the Computer Graphics Technology department at Purdue University, with a specialization in UX Design. Currently, she is involved in SGX3 engagements at the lab, working under the guidance of Dr. Paul Parsons. Her interests lie in understanding the intricate maze of human cognition and how it shapes the way humans interact with technology.

Vaishnavi Anand
MS Student

Vaishnavi is a final year master’s student specializing in UX Design at Purdue University, working with Dr. Paul Parsons. Her interests include user experience design, product design, info visualization and project management. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering. She is also working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for ExpStudio and LS4.

Jasmine (Phuong) Bui
Undergraduate Student

Jasmine is a junior in UX Design at Purdue University with a minor in Anthropology. She is working on understanding complexities in UX Design practitioners with Dr. Paul Parsons and Prakash Shukla. Her interests include user research, design, accessibility, and service design as she is intrigued to see how UX design influences various industries and ecosystems.

Jack Gerber
Undergraduate Student

Jack Gerber is a senior pursuing a major in User Experience Design while also pursuing a minor in psychology and a certificate in leadership. Jack is interested in sharpening his artistic and creative abilities in order to become a fine user experience designer. He wants to pursue a UX degree because he has a passion for designing and an interest in research. Jack also has a passion for music and playing the guitar. Jack is a leader in an off-campus Christian ministry called PBF. Jack also serves on his ministry’s worship team.

Vaishnavi Kuppa

Vaishnavi Kuppa is a second-year undergraduate student in UX Design at Purdue University. Her areas of interest are UX Research and UX Writing. Vaishnavi’s minors in Anthropology, Communications, and Professional Writing provide her with transferrable skills to make people-driven design recommendations. She is currently a research assistant for SGX3 and a content designer for the Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL).

Max Kowalski
Undergraduate Student

Max Kowalski is a junior at Purdue University studying UX Design, pursuing a minor in Psychology and a certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. He found UX because it was a good way to combine his computer science background with his more artistic background into one career field. He grew up learning Java and C, and picked up web development skills more recently. In addition, he has several years of experience with Figma and Adobe Products. He specializes in research with applying psychology ideas and community-focused primary research into products and services to solve problems that people face in their day-to-day lives.

Jonny Bernal
Visiting Undergraduate Scholar

Jonny Bernal is a Graphic Design graduate currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Design at the National University of Colombia. With a strong affinity for UX design, Jonny has been working as a Product Designer since 2020, specializing in crafting digital products and services based on user insights and problem understanding. He is deeply passionate about research on human-computer interfaces, interaction design, and ergonomics. Since the beginning of his journey in research, he has always been fascinated by understanding all the interaction nuances between people and technology, their environment, and each other, in order to create responsible solutions that, little by little, will create change.

Max Berent-Spillson
Undergraduate Student

Max Berent-Spillson is a UX Designer working on becoming a well-rounded and respected worker in his industry. Despite wanting to work in the gaming industry and having interest in painting and board games, he finds himself as an outdoorsman who plays rugby and hits the gym.
